Cancer. It is a disease that everyone seems to be affected by. Whether it is a family member, a friend or a friend of a friend; we all know someone fighting cancer. For me, it is my mom. She was diagnosed with chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) in 2008, and breast cancer in 2013. She is a fighter and the strongest person I know. Her positive attitude and the will to fight, to not let cancer slow her down, is an inspiration. So, what can I do to help her? I can’t cure the cancer but I can help to fund research to help my mom and others to fight cancer.
In 2012, I started a scavenger hunt fundraiser called Hunting to Help. Hunting to Help is a scavenger hunt around downtown Annapolis, exploring the history of the city by solving puzzles, following clues and having a good time. This event enables teams to work together and have fun. The goal of the fundraiser is to help fund research to battle cancer through the Anne Arundel Medical Center: DeCesaris Cancer Institute.
